Our Sparrowhawk Photography Hide, as Featured on Autumnwatch 2015 – has to be one of the best nature hides in the UK.
Chris Packham was blown away with this place and raved all through the series about Mad Max and described this Sparrowhawk not only as the best bird on the planet as a species, but the best bird in the world as an individual!
The Sparrowhawk is visiting several times almost every day along with a host of other species such as Jay, Great Spotted Woodpecker, Nuthatch, Siskin, Goldfinch and Lesser Redpoll are regular visitors along with several other species of finches and Tits. We also get regular visits from Buzzards and Roe Deer.
It can get a bit chilly at this site as it is situated in the moors and relatively high up so warm clothing is advisable. Despite being dry ground to be on the safe side wellington boots are advised in the very unlikely event that your feet get to close to an Adder by mistake. The walk to the spot is only a few hundred yards, very flat and easy to get to on foot. Due to the location of this spot, there are no toilets on site.
